A campaigning organisation that aims to secure changes in law and practice to ensure that women in the UK have equal access to safe, legal, free abortion on request, and to improve the quality of women’s experience of abortion.

Abortion-information (Switzerland)

This website of the former Swiss Union for Decriminalisation of Abortion (USPDA) in German, French and Italian language provides unbiased information on abortion and up-to-date news from Europe and Switzerland in particular. Ethical aspects from a pro choice perspective and testimonials are also included.

Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada

A national political pro-choice group devoted to protecting abortion rights and improving access for women in Canada. 

Abtreibung (Austria)

A comprehensive resource on abortion in German for German-speaking countries. This includes information for women facing an unwanted pregnancy, for health professionals, and for people who are interested in the issues.

ANSIRH (Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health) USA

ANSIRH is a collaborative research group at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Its mission is to ensure that reproductive health care and policy are grounded in evidence through multi-disciplinary research, training and advocacy. ANSIRH is a programme of the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health.

ANSIRH has created a new web resource on late abortion. This includes referral information; resources for women, clinicians, and journalists; facts on later abortion; and information on legal issues, women’s experiences with abortion, and ANSIRH’s Second Trimester Abortion Initiative.

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Reproductive Freedom Project (USA)

Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, the ACLU aim to protect access to the full spectrum of reproductive health care, from sexuality education and family planning services, to prenatal care and childbearing assistance, to abortion counselling and services. The website provides a full overview of the organisation and has links to other useful sites.

BioNews (UK)

A website and email newsletter aiming to provide accurate, balanced and timely news and comment on genetics, assisted conception, embryo/stem cell research and related areas. BioNews is published by Progress Educational Trust.

bpas (UK)

The leading provider of abortion services in the UK, with a national network of consultation centres and clinics. BPAS is the publisher of Abortion Review.

Brook (UK)

A voluntary sector provider of free and confidential sexual health advice and services specifically for young people under 25. The website provides information about Brook and a detailed ‘facts’ section, where issues regarding contraception, emergency contraception, pregnancy, abortion and sexually transmitted infections are addressed.

Catholics for Choice (CFC) (USA)

Catholics for Choice is at the forefront of national and international debates on the intersection of faith, women’s health and reproductive justice. CFC works in the United States and internationally to ensure that all people have access to safe and affordable reproductive healthcare services and to infuse our core values into public policy, community life and Catholic social thinking and teaching. CFC is committed not only to policy change, but also to a change in the culture in which policy decisions are made, a change in people’s hearts and minds about the ways they think about sexuality and reproduction.

Center for Reproductive Rights (USA)

The Center for Reproductive Rights is a New-York based non-profit legal advocacy organisation dedicated to defending and promoting women’s reproductive rights worldwide. The website provides news about reproductive rights and abortion laws from round the world, and comprehensive information about legal advocacy, human rights, equality, safe pregnancy, contraception and abortion.

Education for Choice (UK)

An educational charity dedicated to enabling young people to make informed choices about pregnancy and abortion.

European Prochoice Network (Europe)

A knowledge-sharing blog prompted by the criminalisation of abortion in some member states of the European Union, the activities of anti-choice groups and politicians within the EU, and the problems of access to abortion in countries where abortion is legal.

Family Planning Association (UK)

This website provides a comprehensive guide to safe sex, and details of family planning clinics, sexual health clinics and other sexual health services available in the UK. Links to many other helpful websites are also listed.

FIAPAC (International Federation of Professional Abortion and Contraception Associates) (Europe)

An organisation of people working in the field of abortion and contraception. The website provides information on a professional level, including content and presentations from the FIAPAC conferences.

Guttmacher Institute (USA)

The Guttmacher Institute advances sexual and reproductive health worldwide through an interrelated programme of social science research, public education and policy analysis. Its webite contains a wealth of research and information.

Irish Family Planning Association (Ireland)

This sexual health charity provides clear and honest advice on sexual and reproductive health and rights. The IFPA offers a comprehensive range of services which promote sexual health and support reproductive choice on a not-for-profit basis.

The International Consortium on Emergency Contraception (USA)

ICEC and its member organisations have played a key role in introducing Emergency Contraception in a wide range of settings. Its mission is to expand access to EC worldwide, with a focus on developing countries. The website provides information and resources about EC, and news updates.

International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) (UK)

A global service provider and a leading advocate of sexual and reproductive health and rights for all. 

Marie Stopes International (UK)

A not-for-profit sexual and reproductive health organisation that uses modern business methods to achieve the social goal of preventing unintended pregnancies and unplanned births in 43 countries worldwide.

Museum of Contraception and Abortion (Austria)

This is a unique collection from the centuries-old struggle for fertility control. Separating procreation and sexuality has been a dream for men and women during the whole of human history, and people have made numerous attempts to reach this goal: most of them ineffective, dangerous, or both. This museum documents the long journey taken by people to achieve effective and safe means to limit their fertility, and the possibilities and limitations.

NARAL Pro-Choice America (USA)

NARAL Pro-choice America campaigns against aggressive anti-choice movements. The website provides up-to-date information on abortion rights and legislations in America, with links to many other related websites.

The National Abortion Federation (NAF) (USA)

The professional association of abortion providers in the United States and Canada. NAF’s mission is to keep abortion safe, legal and accessible. The website provides detailed information on all aspects of abortion, including links to other websites.

On The Issues Magazine (USA)

A progressive, feminist publication from CHOICES Women’s Medical Center. Merle Hoffman is Publisher and Editor-in-Chief.

Pro-Choice Forum (PCF) (UK)

An informal network of academics who commonly believe in the importance of reproductive choice and seek to bring their thoughts and research to bear in a useful way for contemporary society. PCF is a member of the network of pro-choice organisations Voice for Choice.

Reproductive Health Access Project (USA)

A national organisation that promotes the integration of abortion and contraception into primary care. The website contains helpful tools for clinicians and healthcare organisations such as clinical protocols, patient education materials and evidence-based resources.

Reproductive Health Matters (UK)

Reproductive Health Matters is an international publications project producing a peer-reviewed journal and other publications with in-depth analysis of sexual and reproductive health matters from a women-centred perspective. Its aim is to disseminate research findings, foster communication and information-sharing, motivate new thinking and action in the field, and promote laws, policies, research and services whose aim is universal access to sexual and reproductive health and rights.

RH Reality Check

An online community and publication serving individuals and organisations committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights. It publishes daily news and commentary, daily email alerts and weekly digests.

Voice for Choice (UK)

A national coalition of organisations working alongside the All Party Parliamentary Pro-Choice and Sexual Health Group to campaign for a woman’s choice on abortion. The website provides up-to-date news regarding the campaign and links to related websites.
